HALFTIME GAME STORY: Brookville 14, James Monroe 7
LYNCHBURG, Va. — Brookville scored two second-quarter touchdowns less than two minutes apart and went into the locker room at halftime with a 14-7 lead Saturday afternoon at Williams Stadium.
Bees running back Anthony Calloway scored on an impressive 63-yard run with 5:17 left in the second quarter. He squirted out of a tackle near the JM 45-yard line, spun around and ran the rest of the way for the score.
Brookville scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 9-yard pass from senior quarterback Kendall BeCraft to wide receiver Ben Hogg with 3:20 remaining before halftime.
The Bees drove to the 28 on their last possession of the half, but James Monroe senior Tony Scott blocked Alan Gutierrez’s 45-yard field goal attempt. The Yellow Jackets recovered and returned it to the Brookville 45.
A personal foul penalty by the Bees gave JM a first down at the Brookville 30 with 23 seconds remaining. The Yellow Jackets were unable to score. They faked a 57-yard field goal, and the Bees made the stop as time expired.
Brookville has outgained JM 238-142. BeCraft has completed 8 of 13 passes for 114 yards. Calloway has 86 yards on six carries.
James Monroe got on the scoreboard first on Adrian Boone’s 41-yard touchdown run with 6:28 left in the second quarter. Boone has 73 yards and a score on nine carries.
Brookville’s D.D. Foxx has two sacks. Eric Nelson has six tackles for the Yellow Jackets.
