High school football playoff scenarios:

NORTHWEST REGION, DIVISION 6

• Stonewall Jackson (9–0) can earn the No. 1 seed by beating Woodbridge (5–4).

• Colonial Forge (7–2) and Hylton (7–2) have the same power rating (28.8) and will be locked in a tight battle for the second first-round bye (or the No. 1 seed, if Stonewall loses). Colonial Forge plays Riverbend (5–4); Hylton plays Osbourn Park (5–4). If both win, Hylton has a slight edge—and beat Colonial Forge head to head, the first potential tiebreaker.

• The remaining seeds are likely to be (4) Battlefield, (5) Patrick Henry–Roanoke, (6) Osbourn. Woodbridge, Riverbend or Osbourn Park can sneak in with upsets.

NORTHWEST REGION, DIVISION 5

• North Stafford (8–1) has clinched the No. 1 seed.

• Massaponax (6–3) is currently No. 2, but may slip to No. 3 if Potomac (6–3) beats Forest Park (4–5). The Panthers play Albemarle (1–8) and won’t pick up enough points to stay No. 2.

• Mountain View (6–3) is likely to be the No. 5 seed behind G.W.-Danville (7–2) unless G.W. loses to Halifax (3–6).

• Brooke Point (4–5) gets the No. 6 seed by beating Mountain View OR if Broad Run (4–5) loses to Freedom (3–6). If both lose, Brooke Point is in.

Likely first-round matchups:

Byes: North Stafford, Potomac

Brooke Point/Broad Run at Massaponax.

Mountain View at G.W.-Danville

REGION I, DIVISION 4

• Chancellor (7–2) could earn the top seed by beating James Monroe (9–0). Smithfield (8–1) can hang on to No. 1 by beating Tabb (4–5). Regardless, those two will get first-round byes.

• King George (7–2) clinches the No. 3 seed by beating Eastern View (4–5).

• Courtland (5–4) and Warhill (5–4) are in a tight battle for the No. 4 seed. Could end up a coin flip.

• The sixth seed is a very tight battle between Jamestown, Grafton, Tabb and Eastern View (all 4–5). The Cyclones likely will sneak if in they upset King George and Jamestown beats Warhill.

REGION I, DIVISION 3

• James Monroe (9–0) can wrap up the top seed by beating Chancellor (7–2). If not, Lafayette (8–1) can overtake the Jackets by beating Poquoson (4–5). Regardless, both get byes.

• The rest of the field is pretty much set, with York locked it at No. 3. Greensville has the slightest of chances to sneak in.
