Get help coping with grief during the holidays

BY JANET MARSHALL

Two upcoming events aim to help people who are grieving the loss of a loved one during the holiday season, when emotions can feel especially raw.

On Dec. 8, Hospice Support Care will offer “Healing for the Holidays,” a workshop for adults who have lost a loved one.

The free gathering will be held at Wright’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Ladysmith from 2–4 p.m. For more information, call 540/361-7071.

On Dec. 11, Mary Washington Hospice will host a seminar for parents who have lost a child. The gathering will focus on:

  • Understanding how the holidays affect grief.
  • Providing information on how to cope with grief during the holidays.
  • Sharing stories.

The workshop will take place at the hospice at 5012 Southpoint Parkway from 5:30–7:30 p.m. To get more details or to register for the free event, call 540/741-2377 or send an email to diane.ebenal@mwhc.com.
