Germanna building evacuated after kitchen problem
Students were evacuated from the V. Earl Dickinson Building at Germanna Community College’s Fredericksburg Area Campus in Spotsylvania about 4:30 p.m. today as a result of a problem in the kitchen, college spokesman Mike Zitz said.
The fire alarm activated because kitchen staff failed to operate the exhaust hood while they were cooking, Zitz said. Once the building was declared safe, students and staff were allowed back into the building and classes and other activities resumed.
Zitz said no one was injured and there was no damage to the building.
