Baker presents budget proposal with $8.2 million shortfall
Spotsylvania Superintendent Scott Baker presented his first budget proposal this evening. It includes the restoration of 14 teaching positions and seven bus drivers. However, the fiscal 2014 proposal falls $8.2 million short of projected revenues.
Baker noted the division has received a decreasing percentage of county revenues since 2006.
He also noted that his proposal includes needs, not wants, and that he will continue to work to streamline the division.
The board will hold its first budget work session on this proposal on Friday.
I’ll have a full report online soon and in tomorrow’s Free Lance-Star.
