Germanna students return to quake-damaged building
With the start of the spring semester, the building that was closed after the Aug. 23, 2011 earthquake, was reopened.
The building suffered significant structural damage in the magnitude 5.8 quake that centered near Mineral in Louisa County.
The quake damaged all three stairwells and created a floor-to-ceiling crack in the wall on the ground floor. Dickinson was the only building on Germanna’s campuses to suffer significant damage.
Students were in the second day of the fall 2011 semester when the quake rumbled.
