School Board considering change to new expense policy
UPDATE: Here’s a link to the story we ran over the weekend. The School Board is currently scheduled to vote on this issue tonight. It will require a second vote for the changes to go into effect.
The Spotsylvania School Board is planning to revisit its expense policy on Monday, nine months after changing it to limit member expenses.
The board voted on March 1 to limit attendance at conferences to two people. Anyone beyond that could pay his or her own way.
That’s what happened last month when board member Dawn Shelley paid her own costs to attend the Virginia School Boards Association convention in Williamsburg. The school division paid for the board chair and vice chair to attend.
In March, the board also amended the wording regarding mileage reimbursement after board member Gil Seaux had been getting reimbursed for travel from his home to the division’s administration building multiple times a week.
I’ll have more details soon online and in print.
