Berkeley Elementary running club keeps kids active and inspired

Berkeley Beavers Running Club participants line up to begin exercising during a meeting this month. The club is open to third through fifth graders.

Berkeley Elementary School counselor Anthony Bramlett started a running club at the school in Spotsylvania County to help kids get moving and stay fit.

After eight seasons, kids are hooked on the program that has grown from about 20 participants to 70. It’s open to third through fifth graders and meets three times a week for 10 weeks starting in August.

Volunteer Alex Kern, left, helps Berkeley Elementary counselor and running club coach Anthony Bramlett hang the group’s banner.

You can check out details of Berkeley’s program and others in a story in Tuesday’s Free Lance-Star.
