Germanna students evacuated after alarm sounds on Spotsy campus

Students at Germanna Community College’s campus in Spotsylvania County were evacuated from one building about 9 a.m. today after a fire alarm sounded, spokesman Mike Zitz said.

The alarm was activated due to contractors welding in the IT room at the Science & Engineering and Information Commons building, Zitz said.

The building was evacuated, the area was ventilated and an all clear was given within 10 minutes, Zitz said.

The Germanna site in Spotsylvania is known as the Fredericksburg Area Campus.
