UPDATE: Spotsy schools closed Tuesday along with Germanna
UPDATE: Spotsylvania just announced schools are closed again Tuesday. The division is closed on “Code O,” meaning no school employees should report for work at any building and all activities are canceled.
Thornburg Middle School, located at 6929 North Roxbury Road in the Massaponax area, is open as an emergency shelter.
UPDATE: Germanna just announced that all locations will be closed Tuesday.
UPDATE: Spotsylvania schools spokeswoman Rene Daniels said Superintendent Scott Baker plans to decide by early afternoon whether schools will reopen on Tuesday.
I’m waiting to hear when Germanna will make its decision. All Germanna locations are closed today.
Spotsylvania schools have no reports of problems at any facilities as of 10 a.m. Crews are out visiting all schools and facilities this morning, Daniels said.
UPDATE: The Weather Channel recently posted this map showing in red the area directly impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
Twelve-month employees are on code E, meaning essential employees are to report to work if possible.
Germanna Community College has closed all campuses for Monday.
Decisions haven’t been announced for Tuesday yet.
Spotsylvania has also cancelled all school and non-school activities as a result of Hurricane Sandy.
The division’s weather team continues to monitor the situation.
