Coming Sunday: Spotsylvania High School grad recalls his mother’s shooting during the snipers’ reign of terror

This month marks the 10-year anniversary of the sniper shootings that left everyone from suburban Maryland to Richmond in fear. Two of the 13 shootings took place in Spotsylvania County, including one that threatened the life of county resident Caroline Seawell.

For three weeks in October 2002, schools and sheriff’s deputies were taking extra precautions to keep children safe and people lived in fear of doing such routine tasks as pumping gas and going shopping.

Sean Seawell was a senior at Spotsylvania High School then and shares his story.

Check it out Sunday online and in The Free Lance-Star.
