Children hold lemonade stand to support ‘summertime Santa’

Sean Ludwick, 8, and his sister, Sarah Ludwick, 12, ran a lemonade stand with other children in the Kingswood development after learning that their beloved ice cream truck operator, Richard Foster, the “summertime Santa Claus,” had fallen on hard times.

UPDATE: A group of children in the Kingswood development pitched in recently to help Richard Foster, the man known throughout the region as the “summertime Santa Claus” for the joy he brings as his ice cream truck visits neighborhoods and community pools.

People in the Kingswood community were among many who responded when they learned through a Free Lance-Star article that Foster had fallen on hard times and has been unable to use his truck because the compressor that keeps the frozen treats cold quit working.

I’m gathering information on the many ways the community has come together to help the man known as “Mr. Richard.”

If you want to help, contact Christ Church, 8951 Courthouse Road, Spotsylvania, Va. 22553. The telephone number is 540/582-5033.
