Reminder: ‘Camp Out, Rock Out, Knock Out Homelessness’ is this weekend

The Spotsylvania  school division’s second  ”Camp Out, Rock Out, Knock Out Homelessness” event runs for a 24-hour period starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday and will be held on the grounds of Massaponax High School.

The goal is to raise awareness of homelessness in the community and among the division’s students.

People will be camping out on the school grounds from 10 a.m. Saturday through 10 a.m. Sunday.

This year’s event has added a children’s fun run in addition to music and games for all members of the family.

People can drop off donations for the homeless students and their families at Massaponax High School or at the Wal-Mart at Southpoint between 10 a.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday.

Items that are needed include:

  • electric skillets
  • crock pots
  • non-perishable food
  • school supplies
  • undergarments for all ages
  • socks for all ages
  • laundry soap
  • body wash/soap
  • deodorant
  • feminine hygiene products
  • shampoo
  • dish soap and household cleaning supplies
