Superintendent Scott Baker issues message to community

The Spotsylvania school division’s new superintendent has posted a message to the community on the division’s web site to kick off the 2012-13 school year, which starts Aug. 21.

 Message from the Superintendent

”The best way to predict the future is to invent it.”

                                                           –Judah Folkman

Welcome to the 2012-13 school year!  I look forward to working alongside our school board, staff, and community as we focus together on increasing learning and achievement for all students.

In serving as the new superintendent of Spotsylvania County Schools, I plan to devote much time meeting with and speaking to students and staff at our school sites.  You can expect to see me at many school and community events supporting and celebrating the achievement of outstanding students and the individual and collective work of dedicated and talented staff.

As we continue updating our division strategic plan, I also plan to meet with stakeholders across the organization and in our community.  Through these discussions, I expect to develop additional understandings relative to specific ways our school division may continue to improve and thrive.

The SCS team of leaders, both at the school and division level, are in place to provide exceptional support toward the primary business of education…teaching and learning.  Please know that I want to hear from students, staff, and the community as to what is working as well as areas where we can improve.

I look forward to seeing you soon.

Sincerely,

Scott Baker, Ed.D
Superintendent
