School Board names Post Oak principal and division’s operations director
The Spotsylvania School Board just approved two key administrative appointments including Karen F. Foster as principal of Post Oak Middle School and Donald J. Upperco as executive director of operations.
Both come to Spotsylvania from Stafford’s school division.
Upperco spent the past five years as principal of Gayle Middle School. Before that, he served as interim assistant superintendent for support services in Stafford.
Upperco also spent five years with the Fredericksburg school system.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Richmond and a master’s degree from Virginia Tech.
Foster has worked as assistant principal of the school since January. Before that, she served as supervisor of student services for the Stafford school division.
She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from James Madison University and a post-master’s certificate in educational leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University.
