Virginia Supreme Court rules Spotsy improperly awarded custodial contract
The Virginia Supreme Court ruled that Spotsylvania County improperly employed the “best value” process in awarding the division’s custodial services contract two years ago.
As a result, the School Board voted this week to award the contract to Professional Building Maintenance Inc. of Stafford County. The contract goes into effect July 1.
PBM had submitted the lowest bid but the board had awarded the contract to SSC Service Solutions, a custodial company based in Knoxville, Tenn.
SSC Service Solutions falls under the same corporate umbrella as the division’s food services provider, Chartwells School Dining Service. Both are part of Compass Group North America.
