Spotsylvania board to discuss releasing Redinger from contract
The Spotsylvania School Board tonight is scheduled again to discuss releasing Superintendent Shelley Redinger from her four-year contract.
Redinger has been offered the superintendent post in Spokane, Wash., and plans to leave in June to move back to the Pacific Northwest where she has immediate family members with serious health issues.
The board, though disappointed that Redinger is leaving, has been discussing whether Redinger should be required to reimburse the division for some or all of the relocation expenses she received when she and her family moved here from Oregon last summer.
Redinger received $20,000 as allowed by her contract but her expenses exceeded that amount.
She had signed a four-year contract and will be leaving after the first year. The contract says nothing about what happens if she leaves early.
Tonight the board is also expected to discuss its plans for finding Redinger’s replacement.
The board’s meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. and is held at the schools administration building, 8020 River Stone Drive in the Massaponax area. Meetings are also broadcast on cable and streamed live online via the division’s web site.
