‘Read Across America Day’ on Friday
The Spotsylvania Education Association reminded the School Board that Friday is Read Across America Day, a day to encourage children and teens to read that coincides with the birthday of popular children’s author, Dr. Seuss.
In honor of Dr. Seuss, whose name was actually Theodor Seuss Geisel, SEA members presented board members with copies of one of his books and giant, red-and-white striped top hats like the one worn by the cat of “The Cat in the Hat” books.
After Monday’s meeting, board members (from left) Linda Wieland, Amanda Blalock and Dawn Shelley modeled their new chapeaus. Board member Jim Meyer didn’t wait that long. He donned his immediately during the meeting.
