Superintendent to announce major cuts; work session televised
Just a reminder, Spotsylvania Superintendent Shelley K. Redinger will announce her plans tonight for streamlining the school division, cutting $750,000 in costs.
This will include eliminating positions, targeting the central office.
That information is to be released during a budget work session, estimated to begin about 7:30 p.m.
If you can’t make it in person, tonight’s work session will be televised live.
This is the first work session to be televised. This will be the practice from here forward, I’m told.
The board needs to cut about $6.6 million from the budget or drop plans to give employees a 2.5 percent cost-of-living raise and an additional 20 teachers.
The regular meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. The board meets at 8020 River Stone Drive in the Massaponax area. The building is across from Massaponax High School.
