Chartwells food service at risk of losing contract in D.C.
Chartwells-Thompson Hospitality is at risk of losing its contract with Washington, D.C. public schools, The Washington Post reports today.
Chartwells School Dining Services operates the food service for Spotsylvania’s schools. Both Chartwells operations fall under the Compass Group, company spokeswoman Ayde Lyons tells me.
The Post article states that there have been problems in D.C. schools such as moldy breakfast bars and serving meals without milk and fruit but a Chartwells official is quoted in the story as disputing those accounts.
Chartwells School Dining Services has been serving Spotsylvania schools since 2004, according to the company’s web site. Company information also shows that it serves 550 public school districts and private schools in the country.
