Germanna holds its first fall graduation tonight
Germanna Community College will hold its first fall graduation ceremony on tonight at 7 p.m. at the Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center. The event is open to the public and does not require a ticket.
Students who finished their degree requirements in the summer or fall term are eligible to participate.
Caroline County native Kevin Jackson will be tonight’s commencement
speaker. Jackson, 31, will be sharing how he overcame a tough childhood to go on to become director of respiratory care at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond.
He started his college studies at Germanna before transferring to J. Sargent Reynolds Community College to take part in a program that paid for his education. After getting an associate degree in respiratory therapy, he went on to earn bachelor’s and master’s degrees and is currently working on his doctorate.
Jackson is a 1999 graduate of Caroline High School.
