UPDATE: Traffic change near Spotsy High postponed
The Virginia Department of Transportation is delaying until Thursday the change in the road alignment of State Route 208 near Spotsylvania High School that was to have taken place this morning. The delay was necessitated by the weather, VDOT says.
Thursday’s change will take place late morning, after students have finished arriving at Spotsylvania High.

BE ALERT TO NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN ON ROUTE 208 IN SPOTSYLVANIA
Traffic to be shifted to new alignment as Bypass Project reaches first major milestone
FREDERICKSBURG – On Tuesday, Nov. 29 traffic will be shifted to the new Route 208 alignment at Route 606 (Post Oak Road) nearSpotsylvaniaHigh School inSpotsylvaniaCounty. The shift will occur midday.
Motorists traveling on Route 208 betweenSpotsylvaniaHigh Schooland the Ta River will use the new road to reach areas north of the project. Local traffic should use Route 606 and the new Route 793 to access destinations along the old Route 208. Motorists can access both routes at the new traffic signal.
The second entrance toSpotsylvaniaHigh Schoolhas been relocated as a result of this new alignment. School traffic will enter the school parking lot at the new signalized intersection located just north of the existing entrance. The main entrance to the school will not be impacted by this traffic shift.
This shift of traffic to the new alignment of Route 208 marks the first major milestone for the Spotsylvania Courthouse Bypass, Phase II Project that began in April 2010. The $19.4 million project, which includes the construction of two new bridges at thePoand Ta Rivers, is slated to be complete in November 2012.
