Immunization clinic is today

The Spotsylvania school division is holding its tdap immunization clinic today from 4 to 7 p.m. in the gym of  Massaponax High School, schools spokeswoman Rene Daniels said.

The clinic was delayed from its original date because of the earthquake.

All sixth graders need to have the booster to enter school. Below is a portion of the division’s original information on the vaccine, with

Required Vaccine for 6th graders

As per the State Superintendent, a booster dose of pertussis-containing vaccine (Tdap) is required for students entering the sixth grade, unless the student has had a tetanus-containing vaccine within the last five years or has a medical or religious exemption. There is no grace period for compliance with this requirement because Tdap is a single dose vaccine, not a series.  Go to the division web site to download the Vaccine form.

The Spotsylvania County Health Department will conduct a T-dap Immunization Clinic from 4:00  p.m. – 7:00 p.m on a first come, first basis.  The department will be able to process approximately 500 students in that time frame.
