Local students receive scholarships from Kohl’s
Five students in the Fredericksburg area have received prizes through the Kohl’s Kids Who Care Scholarship Program, the Wisconsin-based department store chain announced today.
Local winners were: Margo Deihl, 18, of Spotsylvania; Richard Gilleland, 16, of Stafford; Tomas Nichols, 9, of Stafford; Dev Patel, 11, of Fredericksburg; and David Silk, 18, of Fredericksburg.
The program rewards youth aged 6 to 18 for their service to the community.
All winners receive a $50 Kohl’s gift card. Those winners, which number nearly 2,200, are entered in the regional contest, which will award a $1,000 college scholarship to more than 200 children. The regional winners are then entered in the national contest, which will award 10 youth a $10,000 scholarship for college.
In 2011, Kohl’s will recognize more than 2,200 youth for service and give nearly $420,000 in scholarships and gift cards.
Congratulations to the local winners.
