Memorial Day observance at Riverbend
Riverbend High School will host a Memorial Day observance from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 30 to benefit the local “Some Gave All” foundation, groups supporting active duty Marine Wounded Warriors at Quantico and the Chance Phelps Foundation.
Boy Scout Troop 835 and CHCORI JROTC are hosting the event, which will include airing of a 2009 film about the true story of an officer stationed at the Quantico Marine base who provides military escort duty for a fallen Marine. The event is open to all ages but is recommended for ages 12 and up. (CHCORI is comprised of students from Chancellor, Courtland and Riverbend high schools.)
Local wounded military personnel and veterans are expected at the free event, which will be held inside the Riverbend auditorium, 12301 Spotswood Furnace Road, off State Route 3 West.
