Superintendent search goal approaching

The Spotsylvania County School Board has said it hoped to name its next superintendent before March. As the final days of February count down, it’s looking like that might not happen.

The board has received a slate of candidates from its consultant and has been conducting interviews over the past few weeks but it’s unclear when a name or finalists will emerge.

Monday is the last day of February and the board holds a regular meeting and work session that day at 6:30 p.m. but I’ve heard  nothing to suggest members will be ready to name Superintendent Jerry Hill’s successor then.

Board member Marty Wilder, who is co-chair of the board’s superintendent search committee, told me today that the board isn’t ready to say anything publicly yet. Whoever is hired won’t start until July 1.

I’ll let you know when we have something more.
