Hate to ruin your snow day but …

Dear students,

I don’t want to destroy the joy of your snow day. Go ahead and throw some snowballs, slip and slide in the slush, but DO NOT READ BEYOND HERE.

Parents: As of today, your children have used four of the five make-up days built into the Spotsy school division calendar. That means your children will be going to school this Monday as well as Feb. 11 and 21 (yes, Presidents Day) and March 11.

Each of those days had been teacher workdays. If your children miss another full day of classes, they’ll be going to school April 4.

The good news … STUDENTS YOU MIGHT WANT TO SEE THIS …

If students miss eight days after that, they will NOT need to make them up any of them. But, don’t go to nine. Then you run into trouble and the division might need to create a way to make up the lost instructional time.

Why does this make sense? That’s because the division incorporates an extra 20 minutes into the school day, building up what it calls “bank time.”

Maybe that’s more than you wanted to know.
