Second school day delay of the year
This morning, Spotsylvania County schools opened two hours late.
For those like me, who track such things, that’s the second two-hour delay and that adds to the two full days missed last week.
So far, students will be using what were originally two teacher workdays on Jan. 31 and Feb. 11 to make up the two full days missed last week.
The school division has five make-up days built into the 2010-11 school year calendar. Those are used for the first five days missed as a result of inclement weather, presuming the inclement weather comes before the make-up days.
The winter break for students and staff, covering Christmas through the New Year, is almost here. Spotsylvania students go to school tomorrow, weather permitting, and then are off Wednesday (Dec. 22) and return Jan. 3.
