Public input sought tonight on next school budget
The Spotsylvania County school division is holding a pre-budget public hearing at 6:35 p.m. tonight.
The public hearing is an opportunity for staff and others in the community to provide their ideas and priorities for the fiscal 2011 budget. The fiscal year doesn’t begin until July 1 but the School Board and division have already begun working to craft the next budget.
School Superintendent Jerry Hill has made clear that forecasts for the next two years look grim as far as revenue and will necessitate cuts beyond what was required for the current fiscal year.
