School Board to begin discussions on next superintendent

The Spotsylvania County School Board is slated to begin discussing how it will conduct a hunt for a new superintendent at Monday’s meeting.

Superintendent Jerry Hill plans to participate in the school division’s early retirement program and is scheduled to leave in June 2011, one year before his contract was to expire.

Parents say they’ll be on hand at Monday’s meeting to provide more input on this year’s move to trim elementary recess to 15 minutes for third through fifth graders. (FYI: Public comment time is included at all regular meetings but each individual’s comments are limited to five minutes.)

The board meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Administrative Services Building, 8020 River Stone Drive, near Massaponax High School.
