‘We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude’
Germanna Community College President David A. Sam delivered the following remarks at a Veterans Day event at GCC today:
It has been said that “we often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude.” Veterans Day is an opportunity to express our gratitude and pay tribute to those who have served our country to protect our freedom.
With 475 students utilizing the GI Bill, Germanna Community College has the sixth largest enrollment of veterans out of the 23 colleges in the Virginia Community College System. Our veterans represent all branches of the military, including the Coast Guard, and have participated in tours of Vietnam, Operation Desert Storm, Somalia, Operation Iraqi Freedom and the Cold War era. We are also honored to employ many veterans and their family members at the college.
On behalf of the Germanna Community College Board and the college, I extend my heartfelt thank you for your service and patriotism.
