Crowd of 2,000 jams Germanna’s Daniel Center for “Drop It!” Weight Loss Challenge
Culpeper Regional Health System, Germanna Community College and Powell Wellness Center teamed up as an estimated 2,000 people jammed GCC’s Daniel Center over the course of the day today for the annual Healthy Living & Weight Loss Challenge. People were weighing in for the 12-week Drop It! Weight Loss Challenge. For each pound lost, $50 is donated to GCC’s nursing program.
“Over the past two years, many thousands of pounds have been lost, and many thousands of dollars have been donated by Joe and Linda Daniel and Culpeper Regional Health System,” said Mike Catell, director of the GCC Educational Foundation and Alumni Relations. ” Again this year, $50 per pound lost will be invested in an effort to advance nursing and allied health educational excellence. Since the first Drop It! campaign in 2010, the GCC Educational Foundation has received more than $160,000, directly from Joe and Linda Daniel, and also from Culpeper Regional Health System and Culpeper Hospital Foundation in the form of scholarship assistance and funds for program development.”
