Review of The Orion, plus more news on Restaurant Row in Fredericksburg
Did you catch Kurt Rabin’s review of The Orion, the new sushi bar and lounge, in today’s paper? Here it is.
He writes that all the sushi tasted fresh and was well-prepared, though other dishes and services was lacking. Though the decor may appear off-putting from outside, he said it works within, creating a sophisticated vibe. “However, The Orion can sometimes feel like a movie that’s trying to do a little too much, leaving one wondering if there isn’t perhaps sufficient material for two separate storylines,” he wrote. If you want more info, here is the restaurant’s website where you can find a menu.
The Orion is just one of the new joints on a stretch of William Street that’s been dubbed “restaurant row.”
Vivify, the Bethems’ burger lounge that’s been a long time coming, opened last week. Read more in Cathy Jett’s recent story, and find a menu on the restaurant’s Facebook page. Castiglia’s has also announced plans to start work on a new rooftop bar, Bill Freehling reports.
Have you been to The Orion or Vivify yet? Share your thoughts in the comments below! I’ve tried both, and am very interested in hearing about your experiences too. (Both places have gotten many comments on the Yelp already too. Here is The Orion’s page, and here is Vivify’s.)
