‘Taste of King George’ event planned for Saturday
Here’s another food-related event for Saturday: the first-ever Taste of King George.
You’ll be able to try dishes from many restaurants and cooks in the King George area, including Bollywood Masala, Not Your Mother’s Cupcakes, Crazy Cajun, Zibibbo 73 Trattoria Italiana & Bar, BaTer Chocolates, and Mother T’s Jamaican Kitchen Catering.
Taste of King George will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the King George YMCA on State Route 3. Tickets are $15 each, or $7 for kids ages 4-12. Family pack tickets are $40 (2 adults and 2 kids). They are available at www.tasteofkinggeorge.com, or at the YMCA, Account, Inc., Ribbons and Bow Ties, and American Business Card Co.
The tickets will include vouchers for tastings — three for adults, two for kids, and one for kids 3 and under. The vouchers will get you a serving-size sample; booths may also have bite-size samples for free. Extra vouchers can be purchased separately. Proceeds will be donated toward many organizations.
Live music will include Mars Hill Band and the River Town Bandits, and kids will enjoy Lola the Clown. Crafts, vendors, a photo booth, and a Red Cross blood drive will round out the event.
Taste of King George is organized by the King George Business Connect, a group of local business owners, working to support a “buy local” philosophy in the King George and surrounding areas.
