Spotsylvania gelato available at Fredericksburg Farmers Market
Finchville Dairy at Walton Farm, a Spotsylvania-based micro-dairy that sells gelato, eggs, farm-made cheese and sweet cream butter, began selling at the Fredericksburg farmers market this past Saturday.
Owner Sharon Cook said they plan to be in Fredericksburg every Saturday this winter, weather permitting. They sold at the Gordon Road market in Spotsylvania last summer, and are hoping to be at both the Spotsylvania and Fredericksburg markets this coming summer.
Fredericksburg’s market, at the corner of Prince Edward and William streets, is technically a year-round market, though things do slow down during the wintertime. This past Saturday there were four vendors selling a variety of products, including meats, dairy products and bakery items.
Gayle Price, co-manager of the Fredericksburg market, reports that there are tentative plans in the works to run a larger, more organized winter market on select Saturdays in February, March and April. If you’d be interested in shopping at a winter market, she’d love to hear from you on the market’s Facebook page.
