Downtown has most successful restaurant week ever
Fredericksburg’s annual January restaurant week promotion gets bigger every year. The totals are in, and during the 2012 restaurant week, diners sat down to 6,150 meals, compared to 5,024 last year and 2,562 the year before (also known as the year when it never stopped snowing).
In a note in the city manager’s report for the City Council, city officials credited good weather, a growing interest in local and artisanal food and the highest number of participating restaurants–18–in the promotion’s six-year history.
If you missed the winter restaurant week, the city is planning to bring back the August restaurant week it started last year. The Family Table event, which includes family-focused meals and events, is slated to kick off Aug. 4 with an expanded farmers market in Hurkamp Park and other events. Stay tuned!
