Fredericksburg to close block of Prince Edward for four summer Saturday markets

For the first time last year, Fredericksburg closed the block of Prince Edward Street between William and George streets to host an expanded farmers market connected with the Family Table festival. The street closure provided more room for vendors to spread out, and for shoppers to stroll.
Look for that expanded format to happen four more times this year. The market’s website reports that the city plans to close Prince Edward on the first Saturdays of June, July, August and September. From the website:
On those Saturdays, vendors who normally set up on George Street will set up on the north side of Prince Edward and the vendors along Prince Edward Street will set up in the street facing those vendors. The first Saturday in August, August 4th, will be the Family Table event, with additional children’s activities in Hurkamp Park.
The market organizers will host a meeting for interested vendors at 7:30 p.m. March 8 at the Dorothy Hart Community Center. For more information on being a vendor and more information about the 2012 market, click here.
