Giant donates turkeys to Fredericksburg Area Food Bank

Last week we told you that the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank estimates it will need 5,000 turkeys to serve the hungry in our region this Thanksgiving.

Today, Giant Food delivered 750 turkeys to the food bank to help meet that need.

The food bank reports:

This marks the first of five donations to Feeding America food banks across the Mid-Atlantic region. Giant will also donate 750 turkeys to the Maryland Food Bank, Capital Area food Bank, Food Bank of Delaware, and the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank in honor of its 75th anniversary. The 3,750 turkeys will help feed thousands in Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Delaware.
