Food News – Pumpkin patches are opening

Pumpkin patches in the area begin to open this weekend. Two that will welcome pumpkin-seekers starting Saturday are Clark’s Farm in Stafford and Miller Farms in Spotsylvania.

Another Oktoberfest takes place tomorrow from 4 pm. until 10 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Blue & Gray Brewing Co. in Spotsylvania. Admission is free. “Family fun with sing along, stein holding contest, Oompah music, ginger bread walk. Authentic Oktoberfest Beer from Blue & Gray Brewing. Lee’s Retreat Brewpub prepares a wide varity of authentic, delicious German foods and pastries. Free fall crafts table and baloon artist/magician for the kids. Early bird special 11am beer and brat $5!”

Mary Washington Hospice will host Grapes in the Garden, a fundraising event, Sunday, September 25 from 2 to 5 p.m. The event will be held outside Snowden House on the Mary Washington Hospital campus. With the assistance of local wineries, restaurants and businesses, Mary Washington Hospice will host this food and wine tasting event for up to 200 guests. Individual tickets cost $50. The Stratford Hall Chesapeake Bay Wine Festival will take place starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Stratford Hall, 483 Great House Rd. in Westmoreland County. The event features the wineries of the Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail on the  grounds of Stratford Hall. Live music, wine stomp, artisans, vendors, petting zoo for kids, Great House tours included. The Fredericksburg BBQ Jamboree is Saturday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Fredericksburg Fairgrounds. More information here.
