Food page: What do you eat when nobody’s looking?
Is there anything more fun for a cook than assembling a meal that indulges your individual quirks and cravings–even the ones you’re a little embarrassed to admit to?
Food writer Kurt Rabin explored the question of what we eat when we’re cooking for ourselves alone in today’s Food section. He took his inspiration from “Alone in the Kitchen with an Eggplant,” a collection of essays on the topic.
Check out Rabin’s story to learn what local folks in the food business put together when they’re cooking for themselves. Meals range from breakfast for dinner to a big fat cheeseburger.
Personally, I usually end up looking for something atop which I can place a fried egg with a runny yolk. Pasta, fried rice, a sandwich, a quick salad or a pita “pizza” have all fit this bill.
