Merry and bright: Looking at Christmas Lights
My sons love to look at Christmas lights. Throughout December, we usually take the long road home from any venue, to catch as many different light scenes as possible. And we’ll usually devote one night to driving around, looking at lights. We finish the evening with hot cocoa and Christmas cookies.
Want to see the area’s best holiday displays? Rob Hedelt has spent many nights crisscrossing the region to get you the low-down on light displays. Check out his list of best bets here.
And here is a guide to bigger light displays throughout the area. I’m trying to make it to the Lewis Ginter display sometime before Christmas.
And if you want to see something really special and are willing to make the drive, you can check out Zoo Lights at the National Zoo. I’ve never seen the display, but I’ve heard some rave reviews. Admission to the zoo is free, but as always, parking is not.
You can finish your delightful evening with these yummy cookies.
