The Spotsylvania Towne Centre will attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the most parents simultaneously reading to their children at one location on Dec. 17. The event was promoted last week with a visit by actress Lisa Ann Walter to John J. Wright Educational Center in Spotsylvania. Read more here.

An informal moms’ group in Fredericksburg spearheaded a parade of zombies downtown this weekend, all in the name of charity. Read about the event, which apparently covered all age groups, here.

Think about all of the things that are difficult about raising children, then add not having a home to the list. Hope House, a local organization, helps homeless mothers and children by providing a two-year transitional program. The organization has added a new home to expand its program. Read more here.
