Community Day is Saturday at the King George farmers market

Looking for a reason to get out of the house Saturday morning and head toward the part of State Route 3 that doesn’t make you want to kick and scream like a toddler?

The King George Farmers Market will host its September Community Day on Saturday. The market runs from 8 a.m. until noon at King George Elementary School, at the corner of state routes 3 and 205.

Here’s a description from the market manager:

“We welcome fused-glass artist Emily Nelson who will be vending her wares (read more about Emily below) and Bernie Ulfers, who will be back to sing with all ages at our Family Sing-along at 9:30 am. Instruments will be available for all to share, and young children are especially welcome and invited! Boy Scout Troop 191 will be back selling mulch, KGHS Class of 2013 will host a carwash and KG Animal Shelter will have a sampling of pets available for adoption through the Shelter.”

And of course, there’s the market itself, where you can find everything from late-summer tomatoes and corn to fall apples, squash and sweet potatoes right now.
