ABERDEEN GREEN LIGHTS UP THE TREE
Aberdeen Green, a Nashville duo featuring Culpeper’s Carley Chilton and Berryville’s Amanda Mackintosh, will perform Friday at the National Christmas Tree lighting ceremony in President’s Park on the Ellipse in Washington.
The folk Americana duo, whose first video “Oh, Shenandoah,” is also being released on YouTube (the song is on iTunes) this week, will be part of the 4:30 p.m. pre-show that will be shown live on the Web at thenational
Singer–songwriter Del Travar and the U.S. Army Blues will also be featured on the early show.
Aretha Franklin will highlight the tree lighting ceremony at around 6 p.m.
“We are so honored to have this opportunity,” said Chilton, a 2004 Culpeper High graduate. “We will be playing in front of 20,000 people.”
Aberdeen Green’s first album, “The Oak Tree,” is set to début in January.
Chilton and Mackintosh, who graduated from Clarke County High School in 2005, will also be performing at Culpeper’s State Theatre on Dec. 27 at 8 p.m. They will be joined by Brin Black and Traci Snowe, two other up-and-coming Nashville singers.
