The King George Family YMCA hopes to get volunteers to help 55 children shop for back-to-school clothes and supplies.

The YMCA’s Bright Beginnings program has collected enough money to help 55 children get ready for school with two fall outfits, a jacket, socks, underwear and a backpack filled with school supplies. There are 30 children on the waiting list.

Becoming a Bright Beginnings Shopping Buddy requires no more than a ready smile, less than three hours of  time and the desire to help a child. Individuals and small groups are welcome. The shopping date is Aug. 20, 5:30 p.m. at the Dahlgren WalMart.

If you’d like to sponsor a child to participate in the program, it costs $150 to help one child.

Contact Elizabeth Clark at the King George Family YMCA for more information at or 540/775-9622, ext .3017.
