Stafford County food pantry seeks donations

serve-newThe shelves are becoming bare at SERVE, an emergency food pantry in Stafford County. To restock the pantry, the agency has scheduled a bunch of Stuff the Truck events at area Giant grocery stores, for this spring and summer. Director Marilyn Stevens hopes that groups will begin to hold food drives, so they can help Stuff the Truck starting in April.

Here is the schedule for the Stuff the Truck:

April 13 -610 Giant (317 Worth Ave. Stafford)

April 26-Celebrate Virginia (550 Celebrate Virginia Pkwy, Fred.)

May 17- Town and Country (35 Town & Country Dr., Fred.)

June 7- 610 Giant

June 21- Celebrate Virginia

July 12- Town and Country

And if you don’t want to wait until April, you can donate food to SERVE at 15 Upton Lane in Stafford. SERVE especially needs: spaghetti sauce, canned soups, canned meals (such as pasta or stew), jelly, canned vegetables and crackers.

In the last fiscal year, the agency donated about 120 tons of food to families in need. And the demand keeps rising.
