Holiday Helping: Turkeys, trimmings and gifts for teens

HOLIDAY HELPING: See more opportunities to help out for the holidays.

There is little more than a week left until Christmas, and some area residents still don’t know if they’ll have a holiday meal.

SERVE, a Stafford-based nonprofit, hopes to help 215 families this Christmas. They’ve started giving out turkeys and trimmings, but they are 88 turkeys short.

The agency is also looking for some $25 gift cards to area stores like Walmart, Target or Kohls, to give to teenagers whose siblings will be getting toys from Toys for Tots. The agency needs about 120 of those gift cards. Director Marilyn Stevens said, “Without this support, they will not be receiving anything. Their parents are struggling to provide electricity, shelter and food; so gifts for the teens is not in their budget.”

Additionally, SERVE is looking for some grocery store gift cards to give with the turkeys.

So, if you could donate a turkey, a grocery store gift card or a gift card for a teen, drop them off at SERVE, 15 Upton Lane in Stafford.
