Holiday Helping: Project Manger

HOLIDAY HELPING: See more opportunities to help out for the holidays.

Fredericksburg Department of Social Services is holding its second annual Project Manger.

This project is part of the Safe Sleep Campaign, which educates parents and caretakers on the risks of co-sleeping with babies. Suffocation is a leading cause of death for infants.

As part of the campaign, the department started a holiday project to raise money to buy portable cribs for families who can’t afford a safe sleeping place for their babies. Social workers have given more than 30 portable cribs to families in need, and the money to buy more is dwindling.

As part of Project Manger, the department is collecting money for more portable cribs. The average cost of a portable crib is $60. To donate to the project, call Shannon Hartung at 540/372-1032, ext. 247.
