Spotsy Sheriff’s Office provides food, school supplies for those in need
The Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office recently helped area residents in need, with two different service projects.
First, the Sheriff’s Office employees partnered with local businesses to collect school supplies for families who couldn’t afford them. Sheriff Roger Harris and his staff gave school supplies to more than 70 children who visited the Sheriff’s Office and gave an 28 stuffed backpacks to some other middle schoolers.
Then, the Sheriff’s Office partnered with some other agencies to hold a food drive at the Giant at Harrison Crossing. That drive literally netted a ton of food–2,300 pounds plus $700 in cash donations. That food drive provided 4,787 for hungry people in the Fredericksburg area. The Sheriff’s Office donated the food to the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank.
