Hospice Support Care announces three new hires

Tonya Pleasant has been named the new executive director of Hospice Support Care. Pleasant, a native of Richmond, has more than 20 years of experience in nonprofit management. She has worked for Community Action, a child welfare organization and the Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Pleasant is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and holds a master’s degree in public administration with a concentration in nonprofit management. She is passionate about nonprofit capacity building and creating sustainable organizations and programs.

The agency also has a new family care coordinator, Tierra Smith, a Fredericksburg native and a recent graduate of Mary Baldwin College. Smith has a bachelor’s degree in social work with a minor in sociology.

The new children’s bereavement coordinator is Tara Hoit. She has a background in non-profit development, grant writing, marketing and public relations.  Hoit has also developed educational programs for children in Stafford County Public Schools.

Hospice Support Care provides non-medical support, without charge, to those experiencing the impact of a life altering or terminal illness and bereavement services for children, teens and adults.  The nonprofit serves all residents living in Planning District 16.
